IMPROVEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION OF DHAMMA SCHOOL

The Improvement and Administration of Dhamma Schools service of the Department of Buddhist Affairs is designed to strengthen the Dhamma education system across Sri Lanka by ensuring that Buddhist teachings and values are effectively imparted to the younger generation. This service oversees the establishment, registration, and supervision of Dhamma Schools (Daham Pasal) attached to temples, ensuring they operate in accordance with national educational guidelines and the objectives of the Buddhist Sasana. The Department provides administrative support for teacher appointments, student enrollment, and curriculum implementation while organizing training programs, examinations, and certification for Dhamma School teachers and students. It also focuses on enhancing the quality of education through the development of new teaching materials, digital resources, and student-friendly learning environments. Regular monitoring and evaluation help maintain high standards and ensure that both urban and rural Dhamma Schools receive equal opportunities for growth and improvement. Through this service, the Department aims to nurture disciplined, compassionate, and knowledgeable individuals grounded in Buddhist principles, thereby promoting moral development, community harmony, and the long-term preservation of the Dhamma education tradition in Sri Lanka.
