Mr. W.M.A. Hema Bandara

The Commissioner of Buddhist Affairs (Kandy) is responsible for directing and overseeing all functions of the Department of Buddhist Affairs within the Kandy Region. This role ensures the effective administration of Buddhist temples, Dhamma schools, and clergy-related affairs in accordance with national policies and regulations. The Commissioner supervises regional officers, coordinates development and welfare programs for the Buddhist community, and promotes the preservation of Buddhist heritage and cultural values. The position also serves as the principal liaison between the Head Office and regional religious institutions, ensuring efficient implementation of departmental objectives throughout the Kandy District.
