Mr. Sunanda Kariyapperuma

The Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs is the chief administrative authority responsible for guiding, supervising, and strengthening the activities of the Department of Buddhist Affairs. As the principal officer, the Commissioner General ensures the protection, promotion, and proper administration of the Theravāda Buddhist tradition in Sri Lanka, while also coordinating with temples, clergy, and lay communities. This role upholds the vision of fostering a disciplined, virtuous, and harmonious Buddhist society through effective leadership, policy implementation, and service to the Sambuddha Sasana.
