Mrs. P.S.W. Hewage

The Legal Officer is responsible for providing legal guidance and support to the Department of Buddhist Affairs. This role involves drafting and reviewing legal documents, ensuring departmental compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and representing the department in legal proceedings. The Legal Officer also advises the Commissioner and other officers on legal matters related to temple administration, clergy affairs, property management, and disciplinary actions, ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with the laws and regulations governing Buddhist institutions in Sri Lanka.
